Article Resource Box - How to use it effectively

The Resource box is a key element in the success of your article marketing.

There are some simple mistakes that writers make that greatly reduce the effectiveness of their articles.

Two primary reasons for using articles for marketing purposes are:-
1. Increasing the number of links to your websites, thus increasing your pagerank.
2. Getting more visitors to your website when people read an article and click a link to your site.

Submitting articles to Article Directories will certainly increase the number of links to your websites, but the real rewards come when the articles are picked up by publishers for use in newsletters and ezines, and by webmasters who use them on their websites and blogs.

Part of the Terms of Service of most Article Directories states that the resource box must be included when someone publishes an article and therefore the resource box contents are also taken into consideration when a publisher is selecting which articles they will use.
So even the best articles can be bypassed by publishers if the resource box is poorly formatted.

Some examples of why a publisher might not use an article are:-
* The resource box contains links that are unrelated to the article content.
* The resource box only consists of a large number of links.
* The resource box is a sales pitch.

A good resource box should consist of a short bio or description and no more than 3 links.

Here are some examples of what would be an effective resource box:-

Jane Smith is a proud contributing author and writes articles on several subjects including book publishing. You can read more of Jane's articles at <a href="http://somewebsite.com">Jane's Book Publishing</a> located at http:⁄⁄www.somewebsite.com

Jane Smith is a professional writer and book publisher. You can visit her website at http:⁄⁄somewebsite.com or read her latest book publishing tips on her blog at http:⁄⁄www.someblogsite.com

Note the second example gives an incentive for the reader to click over to Janes website.

You will notice the first two examples include embbeded links (html) aswell as links using standard http:⁄⁄ protocol.
The reason for this is so that the link will appear if the article is published in a newsletter or ezine which uses plain text format.

If using embedded links (html), be sure to use descriptive keywords for the anchor text, as this is what is used by the search engines in your link description. Always include a separate URL address, including the prefix of http:⁄⁄ in addition to the embedded link, to ensure that a link will appear when your article is published in an email or ezine.

You can test the functionality of your resource box links by sending it to yourself in both Text and HTML format.
